Bryan Lancon

Mr. Lancon’s background includes over 20 years as a practicing NDT technician with experience in aviation, manufacturing, petro-chemical and fabrication. Mr. Lancon holds American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) certification as a Professional Level III, and is certified as an ASNT Level III in radiography, ultrasonics, eddy-current, magnetic particle, and penetrant. In addition to the ASNT certification Mr. Lancon holds certification as an American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). Additionally, Mr. Lancon is a FAA licensed commercial pilot with over 2,100 hours in various corporate as well as general aviation aircraft and is a FAA A&P (airframe and power-plant mechanic).

Mr. Lancon was involved in developing NDT procedures for the Learjet / Williams engine supplemental type certificate (STC) modification. In 2003 he participated in developing an inspection program for the WASP laser platform to evaluate the condition of the composite door panel for the DC-10 airframe. He has developed and evaluated NDT procedures for various oil-field applications including the “Thunder horse” off-shore platform and has on numerous occasions provided evaluations for specialized ultrasonic testing, requiring “Shell Offshore Inspection” (SOI) certification. Phased Array and TOFD of LNG storage tanks in Louisiana as well as numerous structural steel inspection projects.  

Since 1993 Mr. Lancon has performed training and consulting in the field of NDT and weld inspection and has on several occasions prepared and presented discourses at various seminars for the FAA covering topics related to NDT. Recently he has been involved in evaluating various company NDT programs, certification issues and NDT system evaluations. 

Mr. Lancon has been involved in numerous facets of NDT including procedure development, auditing, prototype and first article evaluation, as well as assisting in failure analysis investigations. Mr. Lancon received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Science and Technology from Thomas Edison State College. He has received supplemental training and certification from various sources. The following is a partial list of continuing education and training courses: ASNT- Level III refreshers, ASM- Welding Inspections and Quality Control, Abaris - Advanced Ultrasonics of Composites, Otokumpu – XRF Alloy Analysis, Learjet – NDI Familiarization, Dassault Falcon Jet - ET, UT, RT, Raytheon – SIRM, University of Manitoba – Quality Assurance, Non-Destructive Testing Technology – Louisiana Technical College.

In June 2006 Mr. Lancon was appointed as Vice-chairman for the South Texas Section of ASNT and has served as a member of the Board of Directors until 2009. He has served on the advisory board for the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Mechanical Engineering Department since 2009. Additionally, he serves on the Advisory Committee at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, TX since 2015.
