Re-Certification For Pipeline Welding Inspector (CPWI+)
Re-certification is required after 3 years of obtaining your CPWI+ certification or last re-certification to keep your certification current.
In order to be eligible for the re-certification , students must be able to provide documentation, in the form of registration card or diploma/certificate, of your Certified Pipeline Welding Inspector (CPWI)™ card. Our office maintains a record dating back five years of CPWI™ graduates' names, attendance dates, and registration number in the event that a student's card has been misplaced or stolen. To be eligible for the re-certification , your CPWI™ card cannot exceed 6 months after the expiration date.
We have had many requests (for some time) from those who have previously attended one of our schools to update their Welding Inspector’s Certificate (CPWI)™. We know that those who have previously attended have sacrificed time away from work and have invested financially in this educational program.
We are quite aware that this certification is recognized by many oil and gas companies and that there is a need to keep your certification current. Therefore beginning July 1, 2006, this Re-Certification will provide a means for you to update and maintain your CPWI Certification without having to attend the seminar again.
The explanation of how the recertification will be implemented is as follows:
We will send you by regular mail a complete and current “Manual” similar to the one you received in the class you attended, an API 1104 Code Book along with a test booklet and answer sheet. You must complete the test questions and send back to us the test booklet, the completed answer sheet, the API 1104 Code Book, a copy of your Drivers License and a copy of your current Certification.
Upon grading and passing the test with a score of 70% or higher you will be issued a new card and letter with an expiration date of three years from the date of your test. (Please note the 101 test questions are open-book). In the event your test score is not acceptable, you must attend another school for re-certification.
The purpose of this Re-Certification is to maintain program integrity and it is intended that anyone or company who may audit the certification will find the questions quite comprehensive, thoughtful and adequate to assure the tests cover the subject in a very professional manner.
Just as in the original seminar, it is intended that the individual who passes this test will have the knowledge to perform welding inspection activities for his/her company to assure quality construction/maintenance welding on new and in-service plant/pipeline activity.
If you are interested in maintaining your previously issued certification, please register on our website to re-certify or call us at 979-289-9000 . Of course, if possible, you could attend another of our regularly scheduled schools throughout the year.
